New government - should I file my unfiled tax returns? Canada’s accumulated deficit at March 31, 2014 was $612 billion. At March 31, 2006 it was $482 billion. That’s an increase of $130 billion or 27% in 9 years. The October 19th Federal election could bring in a new government. A new government may want to decrease deficit by implementing audit programs to corral and put pressure on non-filers. Alberta already has a new Government that has implemented tax policy changes. Potentially, Federal tax policy changes and audit activities could be coming soon. If you get to the government before the government gets to you, by filing your unfiled taxes, then, you could potentially save thousands of dollars in late filing penalties and interest. We have the strategy and experience to complete your unfiled returns and your application for reduced late filing penalties and interest. Call us first. © - Jacob Rawski, 2015 |
