What are the new middle class tax cut and high income bracket? The middle class tax cut is a 1.5% reduction in the federal tax rate from 22% to 20.5% on taxable income from $45,283 to $90,563. Effective January 1, 2016, the annual tax savings is up to $679/person. The CPP and EI rates are unchanged. Starting this month, take home pay should be higher. Those individuals with taxable income between $140,388 to $200,000 will still pay tax at the rate of 29% on income in this range. However, those with taxable income over $200K will pay tax in a new 33% tax bracket on each dollar over $200K. The USA also taxes income over $200K at 33% to 39.6% and has done so for quite some time. Call us to pay the least amount of tax permissible by law for your Canadian and USA business or personal taxes. © - Jacob Rawski, 2016 |
